Congratulations! You are now working from home. You are released from that itchy old office chair that was missing an arm. And, you no longer have to share an office wall with the woman who only knew how to use the speaker portion of her phone. Now the onus is on you to identify what will make you comfortable enough to be productive. For me, my office was like a marriage proposal and a wedding: I introduced something old, something new, something borrowed and well, something sage green (sorry, no blue). Sometimes, you see, it is better to try out what works until you find your own comfort and productive zone. We had a wonderful old desk in the family, which has been through 3 generations. I gladly accepted that because it reminded me that working at home can be done, just as my father before me. It is comforting for me and because I was so familiar with it, there were no issues. The bookshelf was new. It is actually an entertainment center, housing a television and a radio. That’s right, I work better with ambient sound, albeit ones I can control (unlike speaker-phone woman). I borrowed a portfolio to house my writing clips, just until I figured out what kind I wanted/needed to purchase for myself. And, the sage green is for my big, plush chair, which helps me think when I am stuck, or just need a break. I hope you can find your zone for office furniture that makes your office as comfortable as it is productive too.
